How to adjust brightness on ShowTouch

In different installations, it may be necessary to change the brightness on a ShowTouch device in the field to accommodate the environment the device is in. There are different methods depending on which version of ShowTouch you are using.

Windows XP-based units

  1. Exit your active ShowTouch panel by pressing any blank area on the screen (not on an actual button). Click Exit. At the menu, press Control Panel.
  2. Open the Display control panel. You should see the Display Properties dialog box

  3. Click on Advanced.
  4. Click on the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile (if your Windows XP display doesn’t have this, please contact support and we’ll help!)

  5. Click on Graphics Properties (the button will likely be cut off as it is in the picture above).
  6. Click on Color Correction.

  7. Brightness is available and can be adjusted from -100 to 100. The default is generally 0. You may also need to adjust the contrast if you adjust the brightness to get the appearance to be correct.

Windows 7-based Systems

  1. Exit your active ShowTouch panel by pressing any blank area on the screen (not on an actual button). Click Exit. At the menu, press Control Panel.
  2. Either search in the “Search Control Panel” bar for “Brightness” or click on Hardware Options, then Power Options.

  3. Once in this screen, you can adjust the Screen Brightness at the bottom of the screen; it’s recommended to also adjust the Plan Settings for your power plan (in the example, we are running the Balanced Power Plan) by clicking “Change Plan Settings”.

  4. Adjust the plan brightness and click “Save Changes” and those changes will be applied immediately and anytime the device reboots.
